WHY A FOUNDATION?
Community Unit School District 95 has a history of excellence educating students in grades Pre-K to 12. The School District 95 Educational Foundation provides the resources to allow excellence to grow and flourish, over and above what current revenue sources allow.
As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit Foundation, the Foundation is an autonomous organization working in partnership with businesses, community, parents, and the School District to gather and disburse resources to benefit students in all eight District 95 schools.
The School District 95 Educational Foundation raises funds and provides resources for additional innovations that empower every learner to achieve personal excellence.
As of 2016, the Foundation has provided over $500,000 to support innovative initiatives for District 95 learners. Following are a just a few examples of how this generosity has benefitted our students, teachers, and parents:
Lake Zurich High School Greenhouse
Provides hands-on learning opportunities for students in the Transitions Program.
Keeps parents connected with their student’s classroom progress.
Innovative Learning Environments
Provides testing of improved, flexible collaborative, learning environments and techniques. Successful concepts are used by D95 Administration in planning enhancements throughout District 95.
The Foundation sponsors the annual district wide Film Festival and annual district wide Science Fair. The Foundation will also be sponsoring a number of exciting STEAM initiatives coming soon, see Looking Ahead, for more information.
The Foundation is very excited to be supporting the following new initiatives in 2017-2018:
• First Lego League Pilots – beginning Spring of 2017
• Student job shadowing, industry tours, and internships with STEAM industries
• STEAM exploratory learning events for elementary and middle school students and parents
